The Dana 50 uses only reverse cut ring and pinion gears that are available in ratios: 3.73, 4.11, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, and 5.38. This differential was used in solid axle and well as independent front suspension applications. The ring and pinion gears are the same for each. A 9" ring gear bolts to the carrier with (10) 7/16" – 20 bolts. The pinion has a 1.375" diameter shaft with 26 splines. The same carrier can be used for all gear ratios.
